As you probably know by now, we provide design and print to organisations of all sizes and are proud to have worked with everyone from sole traders to local authorities. Atkins Physiotherapy came to us recently for a brand refresh with a difference and we just love this local team’s story…
The bare bones
Atkins Physiotherapy was established in Loughton by Elaine Atkins in 1998 and immediately began earning a respected reputation. Over the years, due to patient demand and referrals, the team grew to comprise five Chartered Physiotherapists each with unique knowledge, experience and specialisms and a friendly admin team of eight. Patients would frequently feedback on how pleasant it was to deal with such a friendly, professional team.
Flexible solutions
In 2015, Elaine decided it was time to hang up her white coat and enjoy new adventures by taking retirement. Both Atkins Physiotherapy staff and patients wanted the clinic to continue as it had and to protect its brilliant reputation. So they made the unprecedented move to pool their resources and buy the business from Elaine.
The Marcomedia treatment
To celebrate the continuation of Atkins Physiotherapy – now renamed as Atkins Physiotherapy Consultants Limited – the team decided a brand refresh was in order. And that’s where we came in. Because they had such a successful reputation, the Atkins team wanted to keep their recognised strapline for continuity, but they wanted to update the logo and colours….
As you can see in the featured image, the first thing we did was to bring all the elements of the original logo closer together. This way, it can be more easily formatted for a variety of media both online and in print. Perhaps the most striking difference is the transition of the ‘wave’, into a row of vertebrae. Representing a business simply and visually in this way is proven to help people both retain information and, more crucially, recall that information when needed. We helped the team choose a more corporate blue to reflect the established nature of the business and the font is clear and clean. The gaps in the font also mirror the gaps in the vertebrae icon, further symbolising Atkins’ services. We’ve kept the strapline font very similar to the original to ensure the all-important continuity that the Atkins team wanted.
Staying active
We hope you’ll agree that the end result shows how an established business can really benefit from a brand update whilst still retaining all recognisable elements of their brand.
