Inspiration: Summer 2018 colour trends

Inspiration: Summer 2018 colour trends

When it comes to trend-spotting, the catwalk is the obvious place to look. Although we work with many fashion brands, we thought that a glimpse into the catwalk colours of Summer 2018 may inspire any business thinking about design, branding, marketing or web. Here’s our guide to colour trends in summer 2018…

Strike a pose

When it comes to trend-spotting, Vogue is always a good start. Interestingly, this article on key colour trends for Spring/Summer 2018 almost exactly mirrors the Pantone colours for the seasons – proving that colour trends in design and fashion are often the same. Vogue mentions the lavender and ultra violet hues which have remained popular for the past few years, as well as dreamy summer ‘cottage garden’ colours such as rose, sky-blue, white, yellow and pale green. In contrast, the deeper tones of dark green and chocolate brown balance the palette. And there is also a dash of bright tomato red to keep things fun and lively.

Colouring IN

This article from Marie Claire also mentions the pantone palette, and Crayola colours, along with 1980s and palm beach glamour (think shiny fabrics and vibrant palm prints – but not at the same time!). When it comes to design, retro continues to be a popular theme and what could say ‘happy summer vibes’ to your clients better than vibrant palm prints?

A bit of bling?

Continuing with the shiny theme, Harpers Bazaar went one step further, citing sequins as a trend. Because of ever-evolving technology, if you really want to shine in a way that dazzles your clients we can help you. From gold and glittering business cards to digital adverts that seem to sparkle – if it’s bling you’re after we have plenty of samples to show you.

We will never be over the rainbow

Can’t decide which colour your brand should be? How about all of them? Cosmopolitan advised that rainbow prints would be big this summer. More and more businesses are showing their support for Pride month (July) with timely offers, discounts and sponsorship, using rainbow prints to show solidarity. But all year round, being bold with colour can really help to grab your customers’ attention.

We’ve put this blog together to give you a little inspiration when it comes to using colour in your design, print and web marketing materials. But don’t feel you have to follow the trends – we love working with trend-setters! Great marketing is all about appealing to your customers and being true to your business values.
