Join the Docks is offering grants of up to £14000

Join the Docks is happening again this year – albeit in a safe and socially distanced way. For anyone who doesn’t know, Join the Docks is a join initiative between our neighbourhood – The Royal Docks – and The Mayor of London (who may soon be our newest neighbour!). It celebrates our vibrant local communities, businesses, artists and the diverse history of The Royal Docks. The organisers are looking for your help in putting together the programme of events and are offering performers and artists grants ranging from £500 – £14000

A boost for artists and the local economy

One of the sectors that has been hit the hardest during Covid-19, is the Performing Arts sector. And yet, from binge-watching Netflix, live-streaming gigs and plays, reading books or sharing videos online, artists and performers are essential in keeping our spirits up during tough times. Join the Docks is a brilliant opportunity for artists near and far, not only to celebrate our communities and do what they love again but to raise their profiles. So, if you know any performers, artists, creatives or just people with a great idea for celebrating the Royal Docks, please share this with them.

Celebrating the docks during the new normal

The organisers have sensibly decided to run two phases of the event to minimise risk. From September to December 2020 they will be funding projects running online and in person but in a socially distanced way. Then a 10-day live celebration is planned for February 2021 but this will be dependent on the Covid-19 distancing guidelines at the time. They are encouraging people to think both about how their ideas will be exciting and engaging to those in the Royal Docks area and a London-wide audience – but also to think creatively about how these ideas can work in the new normal – for example using social media, radio, live-streaming, digital events and web screenings. Ideas should support communities in The Royal Docks and Newham, showcasing local talent, enabling people to express themselves and supporting their wellbeing.

We cannot wait to see the full programme of events for this year and to enjoy all the performances we can! Although we are doing what we can to minimise risk by working remotely, if you want to talk design, print or web with a creative team firmly rooted in one of London’s most exciting areas, call us on 0208 590 0922 or email us at info@marcomedia.co.uk We’re here for you throughout lockdown and beyond…
