Join us for Summer in the Docks!

Join us for Summer in the Docks!

Regular readers of our blog will know how much we love our Royal Docks neighbourhood and what an exciting place it is to be right now. We not only love creating design, print and web campaigns from our Expressway studio, we also love showing our clients the Docks when they come to meet with us – and of course enjoying them ourselves. There is so much inspiration here, from the cultural events, to the independent businesses, the social life, the diverse community – or simply taking in the iconic views over the Thames. Here’s our ‘Top of the Docks’ guide for this Summer…

Kids Summer Splash

The ever-popular Kids’ Summer Splash event is BACK. Swim in the lido, paddle with little ones in the shallows, make sandcastles in the giant sandpit and round-off a beautiful day with bite to eat from the Snack Shack. This is what summers are made of…

Ensemble Festival

Get down to the Docks on Saturday 24th July for an afternoon of FREE unforgettable entertainment with Ensemble Festival! Local organisation Certain Blacks have put together this amazing line-up of London’s hottest names exclusively for this Docks-based festival. With the Circus Show Strong Enough inspired by the strength people find in difficult times, Recovery Poems commemorating what we’ve lost as we take steps out of lockdown, the charming Don’t Drink and Dance show that combines Hip Hop and circus skills and plenty of laughs from the culinary comedy show Do What Ya Mama Told Yah – Ensemble Festival is just the tonic we all right now.

Circus Flavours

Roll-up! Roll-up! What could be better than a summer’s day by the river, spent ‘ooh-ing’ and ‘aah-ing’ at amazing feats of acrobatics and circus skills? How about learning to do some of them yourself so you can wow your friends and family? Ages five to 95 can come along, watch the show and get a behind-the-scenes taste of circus life with Circus Flavours!

Online time

While all events at the Docks this summer will be socially distanced (please see links for details), you might just be dipping your toe in the water when it comes to socialising this Summer. If you prefer surfing the web to… surfing? … then there’s a whole ocean of online events for you to dive into! The brilliantly titled ARGH! Mateys takes you on a journey around the Docks, discovering stories by young people hidden in interactive portholes. DOCK LANDS PEOPLE is an exhibition featuring the unique people, architecture and heritage of the Royal Docks. In addition, using an antique glass plate camera made the same year Albert Dock was built, Selina Mayer has been taking portraits of local people and connecting the current residents of the Docks with the historic ones in this unique exhibition. And is it even Summer if it doesn’t have a soundtrack? Musicity is a soundtrack of music created by local musicians and sound artists, inspired by our Royal Docks. Have a listen here.

If you need help promoting an event with design, print and web or the summer vibes have inspired you to update your brand, call us on 0208 590 0922 or email us at info@marcomedia.co.uk and maybe even arrange to visit us in The Royal Docks! Whether you’re a local business or a global brand, we’re here for you throughout lockdown and beyond…
