How to make your branding more memorable

While we absolutely do not advocate marketing to children, as it’s the school holidays we felt we should publish at least one child-related blog. We came across this video which shows children in the US being tested to find out which brands are most memorable to them. It was interesting to see which logos the children recognized and that got us thinking about what we could do to help you make your brand more memorable …

Make it your own

Perhaps unsurprisingly the more striking the logo (such as the ‘golden arches’ for McDonalds), the more likely the children were to recognize them. The Starbucks design was also recognized by children, proving that memorable logos can be elaborate or simple, as long as they are unique.

Standalone icons

The iconic blue and red logo of Pepsi was quickly recognized. As was the Target logo which is a simple, red and white bullseye. Primary colours and simple shapes are always going to make for iconic logos.

Typographic logos

The Coca-cola typography was also recognized, with one girl saying she preferred looking at it upside down, demonstrating that the typography was more memorable than the name itself.
