Long-running music magazine, NME’s recent decision to stop printing after an incredible 66 years, caused us to do some reflecting and also muse on two of our favourite things – music and digital publications.
Long players
While Marcomedia was in its infancy, NME was arguably already nearing retirement. As NME was declaring 80s Matchbox B-line Disaster the makers of 2010’s album of the year, our director Surinder was busy looking for premises for his fledgling design and print business. As well as having been a corporate and public sector marketing professional, Surinder was also a DJ and music-lover and some of his first clients were fellow DJs and musicians wanting to promote events, tours and tracks.
New Music
Despite being a preferred design, print and web supplier to the corporate and public sector, Marcomedia has stayed true to its musical roots and is proud to count names such as DJ Vix and the Dhol and Bass Roadshow as long-standing clients. Over the years we have produced flyers, posters, websites and social media assets for clubs, events and musicians. And while the NME was occasionally accused of sticking with one type of music, we have worked with the whole range of genres from rock to musical theatre.
Our friends electric
Like many publications, NME will continue online. Whilst we print entire runs of magazines for clients and can advise on the most cost-effective way to do this, we are also experienced in helping publications transition to digital. This is not only a trend in the media and entertainment sectors, but also something we see more of in the corporate, public and charity sectors. Our team can develop stylish news-based websites as well as regular emailers delivered fresh to inboxes all over the world.
