You may recall that we were highly commended at the Newham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards for our dedication to training and developing the skills and talent of people in our local area. Following this, we are pleased to announce that our founder and Managing Director, Surinder Bhambra, has been nominated and elected to join the Executive Council for Newham Chamber of Commerce.
Surinder was elected by peers at Newham Chamber of Commerce due to his many connections within the Newham business community and the surrounding area, his innovative attitude and his commitment to cultivating local talent and commercial partnerships.
If you’ve visited our studio, you will know that we are proud of our location in the heart of London’s Royal Docks – an area which has a rich history and a very exciting future with various £billion regeneration projects planned over the coming years. Surinder has been a resident of Newham Borough from the age of 6 months, until he graduated from University in the Summer of 2000. Surinder was delighted when the opportunity arose to bring the business “back home” to Newham in August 2014.
Newham Chamber of Commerce also has a rich history, with origins in the early 1900s and the current chamber being formed in 1967. Its aim is to help local businesses network and promote themselves, as well as support each other with mutual problems and campaign – either at local or central Government level – to make the lives of local business owners and employees better.
Surinder said, “I don’t think I could be joining Newham Chamber’s Executive Council at a more exciting time. Working in the Royal Docks community we are seeing businesses and partnerships thrive every day and witnessing first-hand the growth and resurgence of the area – both in terms of commerce and tourism. As a resident and someone who grew up here, I will always be passionate about developing and retaining local talent from the diverse local communities that live here, whilst also seeing the area become a hub for international commerce due to its substantial regeneration.”
