The London City Institute of Technology
The institute, based in London City Island, is a collaboration between Newham College and Queen Mary University of London. Having secured £28million in funding, the institute will boost the local economy by working with both students – including those looking to reskill or upskill – and employers. Students will gain STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) skills, qualifications and experience with a clear pathway into employment. While employers will gain the skilled workforce they need. The institute is working closely with employers of all sizes, bridging the gap between learning and employment, coordinating work experience and apprenticeships. This will plug the skills gap, create more employment and position our borough firmly on the tech map.
Supporting tech in our borough
We are excited about this revolutionary establishment not only because we have a history of working with Newham College and supporting local talent but because we specifically look to support and promote tech businesses in Newham. For the past four years we’ve sponsored the E-business of the Year category at Newham Business Awards. The E-businesses in our borough are innovative, forward-looking and helping to secure a robust economic future for all of us. We would urge all STEM related businesses to get involved with The London City Institute of Technology.
