There’s no better time to freshen things up than Spring. Whether you are planning to launch a new venture, refresh your existing brand or just drum-up some extra business with a new marketing campaign, we can help you stay ahead of the game by incorporating the latest colour trends…
Where do these colour trends come from?
Pantone (not the Italian pudding, that’s Panettone) the colour forecasting consultancy responsible for announcing the colours of the year also publish a colour report for the fashion industry. Fashion often leads the way when it comes to the colours we use in design and these are the key colours for London Fashion Week.
So, what are the colours for Spring/Summer 2022?
Pantone describes the colour palette for Spring/Summer 2022 as inspiring “playful creativity and unconstrained expression that is full of life.” The colours themselves are:
Cascade – a cool teal
Coral Rose – a deep floral orange
Supersonic – a vibrant mid-blue
Popcorn – a cheery pale yellow
Potpourri – a fresh pastel pink
Bubblegum – a neon pink
Sudan Brown – a rich earthy brown
Fragile Sprout – an acidic green
Orchid Bloom – a light, bright lilac
Coffee Quartz – a dark brown
In addition, there are five ‘core classic’ colours which work well in combination with the above palette or alone:
White Alyssum – a simple classic white
Humus – a comforting light brown
Fair Green – a restorative deep green
Northern Droplet – a pale, tranquil grey
Poppy Seed – a timeless deep grey
How can I use them?
The first thing to do is find the balance between which colours will appeal most to your customers, those that are in-line with your values and personal preferences and those that help you stand out from your competitors. Some of the questions you could ask yourself might be
“Who are my customers?”
“What would my customers expect from me?”
“Do I want to reassure my customers or surprise them?”
“Is my brand fun, serious, a combination of both or something else entirely?”
Bright colours traditionally represent young, fun brands. However, the beauty of Spring and Summer marketing is that even the most established, serious brands can experiment with floral or tropical themes. But there are also plenty of neutral, calming shades in the palette and all them can be muted with the core classic colours.
