The Goodbye 2020 blog

The Goodbye 2020 blog

Like you, we suspect, we will not be sad to say goodbye to 2020. It has been a hard year for everyone, for so many reasons. But at the time of writing this there is hope on the horizon in the form of a vaccination and a brand-new year – and it feels good to be hopeful again. So, with that in mind, we thought we would reflect on some of the positives that came out of 2020 for us…

We learned we could adapt

Just like you, the way we worked changed. We were used to being in the studio, collaborating with each other and with our clients on design, print and web projects. Regular readers will know how much we love our waterfront home at Expressway in the heart of the Royal Docks. But, because the safety of our team and our clients comes first, we adapted to working remotely, collaborating via facetime instead. In addition, as many of our clients adapted, we found that we were increasingly working on digital projects, to the extent that this side of our business has grown.

We got closer to people

From clients to suppliers to networking contacts – 2020 demonstrated that all business owners and self-employed people face the same challenges, albeit on different scales. It was the year that we started to be more honest with each other about the difficulties we were facing personally and with our businesses; it was the year that the public really got behind independent brands – and it was the year that we all stuck by each other.

We experienced the true value of loyalty and support

And here is where we say a massive thank you to YOU. Whether you worked with us this year, recommended us, retweeted us or just simply took the time to look at our website and read our blogs – thank you. Your support and loyalty means so much to us every year but this year it has meant more than you know.

We decided to concentrate on the things we can control

We will admit that in the early days of the first lockdown, like all businesses, we weren’t sure what was appropriate when it came to marketing ourselves. But, as we saw many businesses not only adapt but continually pivot their offering, messaging and strategy and find ways to create even better engagement with their clients, we realised we could support them with competitive design, print and web.

So, as we head into 2021, whatever it holds for us, we will be encouraging everyone to make plans, take control of the things that they can and anticipate the most positive year possible. And if there are bumps in the road? We know that we can and will adapt – and that we will continue to help each other.

We want to wish all of our friends, families, clients and contacts (and some of you even fit into all of these categories!) a peaceful Christmas break and a happy new year. If you have already started making plans for 2021 or if there is any way we can support you, call us any time on 0208 590 0922 or email us at info@marcomedia.co.uk Here for you throughout 2020 and beyond…
