In focus: Diwali marketing inspiration

Continuing our series of blogs on Autumn marketing opportunities, here is some inspiration for organisations wanting to get involved in Diwali celebrations …

Illuminating ideas

Like so many other national celebrations, with a little thought most organisations can get involved in Diwali. Restaurants, events venues and anywhere selling lights or fireworks are perhaps the most obvious – along with gifting retailers and those in the fashion and jewellery sectors. In addition, we’re seeing more and more ‘Diwali break’ offers from hotels, as well as involvement by smaller non-traditional eateries such as cafes wishing customers a happy Diwali with sweet treats such as Mithai – which is becoming increasingly popular in London.

Dazzling events

If you’ve produced a Diwali menu in the past, why not take a leaf out of Indian restaurant group Dishoom’s book and go a little further this year by hosting a family event, with activities and entertainment for all ages?

There will be a procession of light from the National Maritime Museum to the Greenwich Royal Observatory, complete with Bollywood brass band. It’s worth finding out what events and processions are taking place in your local area and contacting organisers to see how you might be able to support them – perhaps by offering sponsorship of lights or gifts for attendees, for example.
