For some time now we have been raising awareness of The Real Living Wage, our campaign work with local groups and businesses and the impact of the Cost of Living Crisis. Groundwork is an organisation established in the 1980s to bring people, businesses and the Government together in a way that changes lives. Since then, it has helped community projects all over the UK to grow – from community gardeners, to men in sheds to aspiring musicians – and now, in partnership with the Royal Docks, Groundwork London is helping Newham residents and employers create opportunities to build careers and save the planet.
To create a better, greener future, thousands of “green jobs” need to be created across the borough that will become part of the low carbon economy of the future. Green jobs could be working with new greener technologies and materials. But you don’t have to be a scientist or ecologist – the green sector needs people to work in marketing, construction, sales, project management, to name a few. Work4All is a new initiative that will be helping local people into green careers with local employers.
