So, how did we do in 2022?

Are you a trend setter or a trend follower? All are welcome here. We don’t like to go on about it but we have been known to get the odd design prediction right over the years. So how did we do in 2022? You’re about to find out…

The 2022 colour of the year – Very Peri

Very Peri (or PANTONE 17-3938) was a new blue with violet-red undertones. Described as placing ‘the future ahead in a new light’ following the pandemic and other global issues, it was also a colour for a more digital era, including the growing appreciation for the metaverse.

While we saw and used Very Peri A LOT this year it’s about using the colours that work best for your brand. So, whatever colour feels right for 2023 for you, you’ll never hear ‘That is so last year!’ from us.

 

Illustrations – with a twist

We anticipated that there would be an abundance of illustrative design though in a more abstract form. We predicted collage-like designs comprising both images and illustrations and this has been evident throughout 2022. Similarly, we have both seen and delivered countless abstract illustrations for forward-thinking, stylish brands. Whether you are thinking of an illustrative rebrand or just need images for your social media, we would love to help you.

 

Say it loud

You don’t have to look very far to see that oversized typography has been a sure-fire hit this year. It can be seen everywhere.

We expect this to evolve in 2023, with distorted and unusual typography set to be the next big thing. We will also likely see the revival of Art Deco designs along with narrow styles. Varying fonts that make for an interesting look will be prominent too.

Clean design, plenty of white space and clear messaging continues to be on-trend. Whatever you want to say in 2023, we can help with clever typography that sets you apart.

 

Access all areas

Again, our prediction on the emphasis of websites being easily accessible can be seen everywhere. Making things easy for your customers using features such as font scaling, contrast, keyboard-navigation, image descriptions and headers all help your clients to find what they are looking for.
