Teachers Pets: Support for teachers during lockdown

Teachers Pets: Support for teachers during lockdown

You may already be aware that we have a history of working with the education sector. At the time of writing we are back in lockdown and children and students across the UK are being educated online – and making history in the process. In addition, many adults are turning to online courses to keep themselves busy during lockdown. Much of the work we do – both for schools and other organisations – is now digital. So, we thought it might be useful to look at some of the best practices when it comes to online learning…

Keeping students engaged

This article details many of the ways that teaching can continue thanks to organisations such as Google and Microsoft and resources such as British Council, BBC Bitesize and Sumdog. But one of the key concerns of teachers is keeping students engaged. Research shows that one way to do this might be to get their input into creating digital resources. As the internet evolves, interactive effects such as animation, become much easier and cost-effective. We are always happy to advice and support on everything design and digital.

Finding balance

Teachers don’t just have to ensure children are doing well academically, they need to ensure that they are doing well emotionally. This has always been a challenge to say the least but perhaps even more so during lockdown where so many things have changed for children and their families. If children are stressed or worried they can’t learn properly but finding out how they are feeling from a distance can be difficult. Simple visual emotional designs can help children express how they are feeling and encourage class discussion – even if it’s just emoticons or some ‘draw your feelings’ art tasks at the beginning of lessons. Teachers need support too! It is more important than ever that you look after your wellbeing at this time, particularly if you work in the education sector. This article has some great self-care tips for teachers during lockdown.

Not just for kids

During lockdown many businesses are transitioning to running online courses and events to keep customers engaged. From personal trainers to artists, to any professional that wants to reach out during these times – virtual events, webinars and courses are a great way to let your clients know you are still here for them. We’ve been proud to support many organisations who are doing this with marketing for events, branding that can be used as backdrops, digital resources and follow-up study materials.

Support for schools and businesses

It’s not just businesses that need to build their brand. We’ve helped many schools and colleges with their printed materials, large format advertising, prospectuses and publications over the years. Most are running virtual open evenings during lockdown too. For numerous schools, at the moment it is ‘all hands to the deck’ as they try to navigate their way through these new teaching methods. We can help ease the pressure of trying to coordinate marketing materials at the same time by having an informal chat, providing experienced advice and resources where schools need them most.
