We are not all in the same boat but we are all in the same storm

We are not all in the same boat but we are all in the same storm

To say the last few months have been tough for everyone is something of an understatement. For those of us lucky enough to be planning a return to a new normal, the next few months and beyond are likely to be challenging to say the least. But if this time has proved one thing that we already knew, it’s that self-employed people are survivors…

The Great British Self-Employed

We were struck by two positive things during these uncertain times – the sharp rise and sheer number of people in the UK who are self-employed and the amount of public empathy for them (us). This show of support says to us that people understand that small business owners work tirelessly because they care passionately about what they do, they want to go the extra mile for their clients and they need to continue to pay their mortgage and feed their families whatever happens. In fact, many of our clients have been spending lockdown staying at home and working on their branding, websites, marketing plans – because they can’t afford not to.

We are all in this together

We are the optimists; we are the ones who started businesses from our spare bedrooms – or our living rooms if we didn’t have a spare bedroom. We are the ones who, in normal circumstances, continue to work no matter what; who show up to events and meetings with a big smile and banter even on the bad days. We are the ones who help start-ups or associates who are having a hard time and remain loyal to our suppliers for years – because people did the same for us and we understand how it feels. We are the ones who rethink, refine, rebrand, relaunch and tirelessly market ourselves.

We’re here for you, through lockdown and beyond…

There is much talk of a ‘new normal’ after lockdown. At the time of writing, nobody quite knows how this is going to look but it is likely to affect almost all businesses. People may want guidance on how you will interact with them and reassurances that you are doing everything you can to minimize risk. You may want to promote a product or service that could help people during this time, you may want to communicate with your stakeholders to let them know you are still here should they need you or perhaps you are using this time as positively as possible to launch a new website or marketing campaign.

As you may know we provide a full digital marketing service including websites, branded social media profiles, electronic document branding, e-brochures, e-newsletters, email campaigns – you name it. And our print supply chain is waiting and ready…

These are unprecedented times but if there’s one thing people – and self-employed people in particular – are good at, it’s adapting and surviving. Like everyone else, we are waiting to see what help we may be able to get and what will happen next but we remain here for you on 0208 590 0922 or at info@marcomedia.co.uk throughout lockdown and into the new normal …
